Ethernet是IEEE802.3标准。基于帧的局域网络技术。Ethernet是应用最为广泛的有线局域网技术。在物理层上，Ethernet stations通过发送数据包通信，阻塞被分别发送和传递的数据。与其它IEEE802 LAN，每个以太网站被赋予单个的48位MAC地址，这个地址也用来指定每个数据包的目的和源地址。

以太网端口插件使用现有的接口设备，从而TTworkbench可以直接通过以太网接口和待测设备通信。用户可以专注在测试例的实现，不用考虑如何实现通过以太网访问待测系统。
